American Indian Wedding Ceremony
White (symbolizing East)
Blue (symbolizing South
Yellow (symbolizing West)
Black (symbolizing North)
These colours are woven into the traditional bridal dress of the American Indian Bride in wonderful show of respect for the four corners of the Earth. Together, the bride and groom will wash their hands, symbolizing their cleansing of themselves of evil and past loves.
During their ceremony, the bride and groom will share nourishment consisting of both yellow and white corn meal, stirred into a mushy substance, to symbolize their joining.
